I wouldn't consider myself non-committal... but something about the option of getting a little taste of something without purchasing the full size product is so appealing to me. I tend to fall victim to a "product graveyard" for anything I try a few times and don't instantly fall in love with. So maybe it's commitment issues, or I'm a scientist at heart so I've always loved mystery or sample boxes. You know them, those packs of random products that give you the opportunity to try a few different things out, things you didn't even know you needed (and debatably maybe don't... but this isn't a minimalist blog so I stand).
So when I became pregnant I investigated all the little sample kits + boxes I could get. One because I had no clue what I needed and two because everyone loves a sample! When I landed on creating my registry on Babylist and finally qualified for the Hello Baby Box, I was a little skeptical whether it was worth it. Sure you only pay shipping (currently $8.95), but I didn't want to pay that for a load of junk. After some investigating, I came to the conclusion it seemed worth it, and quickly purchased. So I'm here to share exactly what I received in my Babylist Hello Baby Box, so you don't have to wonder.
I'm sure the boxes change regularly, but mine (ordered October 2023) included:
A Colored Organics short sleeved bodysuit in the color Clay
A Parker Baby bandana bib (which is sooooooo soft !!!)
Jujube x Studio Oh! Mama + baby matching sock set in the Be Kind Rainbows print
Honest sensitive wipes (10 pack)
2 Kudos Diapers (size 2) in the print Sign Language
Aquaphor Healing Cream Baby 3 in 1 diaper rash cream (.35oz)
Palmer's Skin Therapy Oil (.68oz)
So my overall thoughts, it's a great variety of items—but honestly I was a bit underwhelmed... the smaller samples and things will make great additions to the diaper bag. But honestly nothing in the box got me too excited. However, after totaling everything up the box itself was worth 49.95, which is pretty amazing.
To me, coupons don't compare to "stuff" BUT when I looked closer, there weren't just "get $10 off when you spend $100" they were also for free stuff + alot of them included free shipping! Including:
A free board book with free shipping from Slumberkins
$15 to use at Wellements
1 Free month of Tinyhood
A free swaddle from Little Unicorn ( + order 1 more item for free shipping!)
A free will from Trust & Will
+ additional % or $ off coupons from the brands that included samples in the box
There are a few credentials in order to qualify for the Hello Baby Box, which can be found on Babylist's website. While I loved using them for my registry, personally I'd might skip out on the welcome box next time. However as a a first time mom, it's a great way to try a few different brands, items, and get some discounts. And don't we all love to try it before we buy it... especially when it comes to providing the best for our little ones.
